Google’s algorithm treatment of AI-generated gambling content is not settled. The company’s management acknowledged this directly, citing SEO green shoots since mid-April but explicitly declining to factor them into guidance.
The 12-month window between now and when the savings begin to appear in full-year numbers is the test period. During that window, competitors with retained editorial teams can move into any traffic gaps that open. If the AI-led content maintains conversion rates comparable to human-produced content, the model is validated and the restructuring was correct. If it does not, rebuilding the editorial function will take longer and cost more than the severance saved.
The bet is large. The proof of concept is still running.
