The complexity intensifies in regulated markets where technical compliance (e.g. data localisation, audit trail requirements, or reporting standards) demands real-time traceability and structured modularity. Cloud-native competitors are rapidly outpacing incumbents by leveraging service-oriented back ends that facilitate agile delivery, automated testing, and continuous deployment.
Several jurisdictions, including Ontario, Germany, and select U.S. states, have introduced or tightened requirements for system audits, data lineage, and real-time integrity verification. Legacy systems not architected for these demands are becoming liabilities under intensified scrutiny.
